Diabetes Assessment. Type 2 diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. It can be controlled through eating a healthy diet, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight. This disease is a contributing factor to a multitude of diseases including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and blindness to name a few (American Diabetes Association, 2013). Take the Assessment Activity 13-3: Are You at Risk for Diabetes? on page 451 in your course textbook and answer the questions following the assessment. In your YouTube video journal, respond to the topics below:
- Explain the results of your assessment and identify your risk of diabetes.
- Examine the relationship between health and wellness by discussing the impact of diabetes mellitus on at
least three dimensions of wellness.
- Identify three lifestyle habits a person can practice to reduce his or her risk of type 2 diabetes.
Your journal should be 2 to 5 minutes in duration. Review the Screencast-o-matic Quick-Start Guide on how to create a Screencast-o-matic account and create a Screencast-o-matic video journal. Submit a one-page Word document that contains the URL to your video journal by Day 3.
